The Benefits of Polycarbonate Sheet Material

Polycarbonate sheets—also known as twinwall or multiwall sheets—are an ideal glazing option for greenhouses and various indoor or outdoor construction applications. The unique features of our polycarbonate sheets translate into significant cost-saving benefits for you.

Exceptional Features

  • UV Protection
Our polycarbonate sheets are produced using a proprietary co-extrusion process that safeguards the surface from UV radiation degradation.
  • Infrared Light Transmission
Beneficial infrared light penetrates the material, creating an optimal growth environment for plants and minimizing energy costs.
  • Flame-Retardant Design
The resins utilized in our polycarbonate sheets offer outstanding flame-retardant properties for added safety.
  • Energy Efficiency
Compared to regular glass, twinwall and multiwall polycarbonate materials significantly reduce heat loss. In fact, documented savings of up to 50% have been reported when using our sheets

Extensive Product Range for Various Applications

PCS Plastics offers a diverse selection of industrial partition paneling and greenhouse covering materials, all designed to meet your specific building needs. Our products are manufactured by industry leaders in polycarbonate sheet extrusion, research, and technology, ensuring top-quality and reliability.

Understanding Key Performance Metrics

  • U-Factor
The U-Factor measures how well a product retains heat. Lower values indicate superior heat retention. Range: 0.20 – 1.20.
  • Visible Transmittance
This measures how effectively a product allows natural light into your space, potentially reducing the need for artificial lighting. Higher values reflect better light transmission. Range: 0 – 1.
  • Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC)
This metric assesses a product’s ability to resist unwanted heat gain, which is crucial during the summer. Lower values indicate lower cooling costs. Range: 0 – 1.
  • Air Leakage
This measure indicates how much air can enter a room through the product, with lower values resulting in fewer drafts. Look for values ≤ 0.3 for optimal performance.
  • Protecting Your Property with RDC Storm Panels
Our 16mm and 25mm RDC Storm Panels, made from clear polycarbonate, provide superior protection against hurricane winds, flying debris, and severe weather while allowing light to filter through. They have successfully passed Dade County Hurricane tests and endured large missile impacts without sustaining damage. Additionally, these panels can withstand high air pressure and simulated wind speeds of up to 170 MPH.
  • Chemical Resistance and Durability
Polycarbonate is resistant to various chemicals, including acids, oils, detergents, and alcohols, making it suitable for demanding environments. With an exceptional melting point of around 288°C (550°F), our polycarbonate sheets can be autoclaved, heated, and cooled repeatedly without significant degradation.

Care and Maintenance Tip

To remove a stuck film from your polycarbonate panels, gently heat the film with a hairdryer to loosen the adhesive. Use a soft cloth or microfiber cloth to peel it off. For any stubborn residues, a mild soap solution or a small amount of isopropyl alcohol may be effective, but it’s essential to test on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure no damage to the surface occurs.

How to Remove Stuck Film from Polycarbonate Sheets and Panels

Maintaining your polycarbonate sheets and panels is essential for their longevity and performance. If you find yourself dealing with stuck film, follow these straightforward steps to safely remove it without damaging the surface:

  1. Heat Application
Begin by using a hair dryer set to a low heat setting. Gently apply heat to the stuck film to soften the adhesive, making it easier to peel off without causing any damage to the polycarbonate surface.
  2. Gentle Peeling
Once the film has been sufficiently heated, take a soft cloth and carefully peel the film away in small sections. This method allows for a more controlled removal process, reducing the risk of tearing the film or damaging the panel.
  3. Mild Cleaning Solution
If adhesive residue remains on the surface after removing the film, mix a mild soap solution with warm water. Dampen a soft cloth with this solution and gently wipe the surface to eliminate leftover residue
  4. Avoid Harsh Chemicals
Avoid using abrasive cleaners, strong solvents like acetone, or harsh chemicals, as these can severely damage the polycarbonate material. Stick to gentle cleaning methods to preserve the integrity of your sheets and panels.
